Customize the Look of Your Blog

First of all, you can update the tagline of your blog by clicking on the ‘Options’ tab in the top navigation of your site admin. There is a field there that you can change your blog’s tagline, then click ‘Update Options’. Easy enough.

As for your blog’s presentation, we just added a bunch of new blog themes that will hopefully be easy to use and give you more creative elbow room in personalizing the look and feel of your blog. Just click on the ‘Presentations’ tab in your site admin’s navigation and select a theme that you’d like to use. Some themes allow simple selections to customize the blog’s look. However, for the truly savvy (or brave), every theme has a ‘Theme Editor’ sub-tab that allows you to work directly with the code of your blog template. Therein, you may update the header graphic of your blog, and all that sort of thing. (Note: For any template file that you edit, you can always ‘Reset to Default’ if you need.)

New Blogger Import Tool!

We have integrated a New Blogger import tool to help existing bloggers to migrate over the content of their old blogs into their Animation Blogspot accounts.

The new feature is very simple to use. From your site admin, click on the ‘Import’ tab in the top navigation. Follow the directions.

Categorize Your Blog

Don’t forget to categorize your blog within different communities to help others find you!

From your site admin, click on the ‘Options’ tab in the top navigation, and then the ‘Blogspot Categorization’ sub-tab. You may check off which communities best describe the general content of your blog.

Listing Your Blog Within Communities

Don’t forget to list your blog within the communities of the Animation Blogspot. If your blog is geared towards commentary, stop-motion, traditional animation, independent work, short films, studio life, or what have you, you can categorize your blog into several different communities.

You can update your blog’s categorization at any time in your account’s user admin. When you are logged in, click on the “Options” tab in the top navigation, then the “Blogspot Categorization” sub-tab. Check the communities that apply to your blog. If you think your blog should belong in a community that we have not listed, please contact us and we’ll consider the suggestion.

Being a part of the Animation Blogspot’s communities helps to promote your blog. It is a simple way for people to find blogs that relate to their interests and for everyone to network.

Promoting Your Blog

The Animation Blogspot is a convenient, centralized destination for the animation blogging community. Here you will get the kind of exposure you simply can’t get elsewhere.

The surest way to garner an audience is to post to your blog consistently and regularly. Your content will then have a chance to show up on the Animation Blogspot’s portal homepage for all to see.

Bloggers and blog posts are able to be found through a simple search query — whether you’re looking for a particular person, or bloggers in a certain geographic location, or posts related to certain subjects.

Another way to find blogs is through the Communities section (located in the right column). Bloggers can categorize themselves into which communities best represent the theme of their blogging. Right now, these are the communities currently set up for the Animation Blogspot, but we will be expanding and reworking these communities as more bloggers sign up and give us their input/feedback.

How to Migrate Your Blog

If you have an existing blog on another blogging system, you can migrate your content into your new blog on the Animation Blogspot. When you are signed into your Animation Blogspot administrative account, click on the “Import” tab in the top-navigation and follow the instructions. If you have a Blogger account, for example, you can import your posts and comments with the click of a button!

Currently, we support the import of blogs from: Blogger, Dotclear, Greymatter, LiveJournal, Movable Type/Typepad, RSS, Textpattern, WordPress, and Blogware.

Note: If you have a unique domain name for your blog, you can redirect the domain to point to your Animation Blogspot URL.
